This view was taken from Railroad Avenue in October 1998.  You can  see the tracks overgrown with weeds.  The light pole just left of the tracks was for the Lakehurst freight station.  Just underneath the Route 70 overpass, you can see the outline of the signal bridge.  The signal bridge was used in conjuction with movement along the Barnegat Branch, but taken out of service by the CNJ with the arrival of cab control systems.  However, crews assigned to older locomotives still had to phone in for orders.  You can still see several of the 1929 phone booths along the line.  It is great that the signal bridge was not torn down.
